Prep the Apples
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Toss sliced apples in lemon juice to keep them looking fresh.
Mix in sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Set aside while you tackle the topping.
Make the Crumble Topping
In a medium bowl, combine flour, oats, and brown sugar. Add cold cubed butter.
Use a pastry cutter, fork, or your fingers to mix until it resembles coarse crumbs. Yes, it’s supposed to be lumpy. That’s your crisp magic.
Assemble the Apple Crisp
Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish. Layer the apple mixture evenly at the bottom.
Sprinkle the crumble topping over the apples, making sure it’s fully covered. No skimping here.
Bake to Perfection
Bake for 40–45 minutes until the topping is golden brown and apples are bubbling around the edges.
Pro tip: Place a baking sheet under the dish in case the juices bubble over. Kitchen cleanup is no one’s favorite.
Cool Slightly & Serve
Let it cool for 10 minutes to avoid lava-level burns. Then scoop, serve, and maybe sneak a taste straight from the pan.
